Kathmandu and Around

- a short but diferent trip -

Nepal- Trip

A short but different trip proposal through the Kathmandu valley. Short, but with a lot to offer such as the historical buildings and temples of Bhaktapur and Kirtipur, the Buddhist monastery of Namo Buddha, the hidden temples of Chobhar and Teku, the grandeur of the Buddha and Swayambhu stupas, the peaceful city of Patan and the busier Kathmandu. City, nature and culture, spiced up with two bike routes and one hiking route (which can be done by vehicle).

This is a slightly different travel program. it is a few days itinerary, a little more than a week, but it is far from the classic tourist “tour” of this kind of trip.

As the program is planned, it is aimed at people with a little bit of ability to do physical activity, who like the challenge of facing the roads around Kathmandu by bicycle and who enjoy walking through nature. The program contains two journeys of mountain biking, but quite affordable since at a normal pace we will be on the bike for a couple of hours approximately. The first day is rather simple, first through the streets of Kathmandu (we will go through the quieter ones) to reach Pashupatinath, from where we will bike through more rural areas and small neighbourhoods to the beautiful village of Bhaktapur. The second day is a bit more demanding, but nothing too demanding, since the road, after leaving Patan, goes up to Kirtipur.

We also have a day of hiking with two sections, one first in the morning of about four hours, plus a second in the afternoon of two, walking through areas of terraced crops, small towns, scattered farms and forests, with the Namo Buddha Monastery and the village of Panauti as main destinations.

But the good news is that these days can also be done by vehicle. That is, you can choose to do the program as it is (better!), but also do only one day of cycling, walk only part of the itinerary, or none, but visiting the same places.

Also, despite being a short program, we have included both the essential spots in a visit to Nepal and places that are very little known and not frequented by tourists. We cannot ignore the great Bouddhanath stupa, nor the Pashupatinath temple, nor Swayambhunath, nor the Thamel neighbourhood, nor Bhaktapur, but you will also visit the Dhulikhel area and the Namo Buddha Monastery, the Jal Binayak Temple in Chobhar, the fields and orchards around Kathmandu, the small temple of Teku, or the beautiful and little-visited Durbar Square of Kirtipur.

So, you have in your hands a small but very interesting trip around Kathmandu, a trip that we encourage you to extend with an extra free day or, even better, with a wider route through Nepal or with a small trek, but that you can also remove some days if you need.
