It is unusual to have the option of such a short trek that places you in the heart of the Himalayas, at the foot of an 8,000 meter summit. This is the short Bimthang trek.
The opening of the rough road that enters the Marsyangdi Nadi valley, following the Annapurna Circuit itinerary, allows us to reach Dharapani directly from Kathmandu. Naturally you would also have the option of starting your trek in Besi Sahar or Bhulbhule and reaching Dharapani by adding two walking days.
Dharapani, currently the end point of the Manaslu Trek, becomes the starting point for us. From here we will climb approximately 1740 meters up to Bimthang. We travel, in just two days, from the cultivated fields and forests of the valley, to a totally alpine environment, surrounded by white peaks on all sides. In Bimthang we have a beautiful day by the Ponkar and Nayamlo lakes, over 4000 meters above sea level, and the more or less official “view point”. However, wherever you are, the views are spectacular. Manaslu, 8163m high, will dominate your attention.
We can add a day if we want to reach over 5000 meters altitude at the Larkya-La pass, the culminating point of the Manaslu trek. This will open up views of the entire Manaslu valley and Budhi Gandaki.
The program you have here is the shortest possible option (we don’t think you want to eliminate the lake journey). Designed for those who unfortunately do not have much time, but do not want to miss the opportunity to experience being in the middle of the Himalayan peaks.
