Adding the excursion to Tilicho Lake to the famous Annapurna Circuit makes this trek even more spectacular than it already is. From terraced rice fields and small farms, the landscape gradually changes to the solitary valley of Tilicho-Tal, and finally to the lands of Mustang with its typically Tibetan culture.

The Annapurna circuit is one of the mythical treks in Nepal for its high scenic and cultural value, in a tour that surrounds the outside of this mountain range in the form of a circus that has the Annapurna I, 8091 meters high, as a highlight. Its complete route, which you have detailed in their respective dossier, is impressive, however, the construction of the rough road some time ago in the second part of the tour, which runs through the valley of Kali Gandaki from Muktinath and Kagbeni to Beni, and the fact that not everyone is lucky enough to have enough time to complete the route, makes most hikers today finish the trek in Jomsom, from where they return to Pokhara either by plane or by bus or jeep along the runway (which is an adventure in itself), and that is the route we propose here.
The infrastructure is moving forward in this area. For some years now, the road already reachs Manang. This trek has been somewhat distorted to offer a better quality of life to the inhabitants of the territory, although this is a complex issue. But the trek has not lost any of its strength and most of the route does not walk on the road. It is and will continue to be one of the most impressive routes in all of Nepal, also, one of the crowdest, as well as the safest.
The circuit that we propose here is the classic route, without concessions and without shortcuts using the jeep or bus. From Besi Sahar we will first walk through rice terraces and agricultural lands where we can observe the rural life that makes up a large part of the population of Nepal, to gain height and at the same time change the landscape, vegetation, culture and people.
Tilicho Tal is a great remote lake in a tremendously solitary and majestic environment, surrounded by high peaks. Entering into the Tilicho valley is not as “easy” as in the rest of the circuit, its route crosses places with a certain risk and the environment is much more solitary, and wild.
Finally, we cross the Thorung-La, the mythical pass at 5416 meters where the highest tea shop in the world is located, to descend into Mustang territory. Fully Tibetan culture and landscape await us.

Like Everest Base Camp, this route can be really crowded in high season, especially in October, so it is recommended to avoid this month.
Currently the road arrives at Manang, so it is possible to reduce days for those who do not have the 19 days that would require doing the route as we propose here. Of course, you don’t necessarily have to go to Manang and, in fact, we don’t recommend it. Anyway, you can go by jeep to the most convenient point depending on the availability of days. Chame, for example, could be a good option. We must advice, however, that the jeep ride is not exactly a pleasure trip.
INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT SCHEDULE
Programs may have to be adapted according to the schedules of your flights to Nepal. The itineraries are designed considering that the international flight arrives at Kathmandu in the morning or noon. If you arrive to Nepal afternoon or later it would be better to have a margin day before starting your trek, although it is not essential.
DO YOU WANT TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR TRIP?
Related to the trek itineraries, Kathmandu and Pokhara staying are the “minimum days recommended” to have a comfortable and safe trip and trek. But always is a good idea to add some extra day during the trek or in your days in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
Like all our tours, the itinerary can be customized and adapted to your taste, needs and preferences.
You can book the full trip or just the trek and travel on your own in Nepal.
EXPERIENCES TO NEPAL OUTSIDE THE PROGRAM
Whether for free days in Kathmandu or Pokhara, as if you want to add more days to your trip, we offer several options and extensions. With them you can add and complete activities and experiences on your trip. Some are already included in some program, but in general we prefer that you choose them on your own, if you are interested in any, depending on your tastes and way of traveling. Ask us for more information if you are interested.
