Food and Accomodation

Accommodations:

Accommodations during the treks are clean with basic facilities, mostly owned by the local people. The lodges are built mostly 2 stored with thatched roof by wood or stone, with small rooms with 2 beds in each room, designed to prevent from cold wind, with common bathroom and toilet, it is rare to have one with attached. Most lodges have hot water from the solar power but not all. It is a good idea to have your own sleeping bag especially if you are there in/around peak season because most of the blankets (sirak) will be used by trekking staffs (guide and porters). Surely there will be some rooms with good views but not all.

All most all the lodges have cozy dining hall with a heater with firewood used for heating the room and water.

Not all the food ingredients are grown on the trail because of cold temperature; potato and green spinach are some that can be grown locally. Other all the products like rice, noodles, sugar, salt, meats etc are brought from the city with the help of porter or the mules and so the food is expensive. It is okay to expect general western food with the trained local cooks/owner at cozy dining table. Foods are served fresh and warm.

Services during the trek in the lodges depends on the season, it is okay to expect for the good hospitality probably the best during the low season with less density of tourist. During the season your guide and staff will assist the lodge owner for your better service. If the lodges have good no. of tourist it is always a good idea to order your breakfast in advance before going for bed with time that your prefer to have. Ordering dinner in advance can be helpful for the lodge owner/your guide/porter and yourself to have a efficiency in service.

You can find small shop in lodges where you can buy chocolates, mineral water, toilet papers, and beverages like beer, coca cola and other snacks. Prices goes comparatibly higher as you climb higher.
