When To trek ?

october - January – February

Generally it is very cold during this month, 10 c more cold than autumn. Most of the high passes above 4000m are closed from mid November till mid march and the trails on the high Himalayas are mostly with snow, it is always a wise decision to check before heading to any of those high pass. But still it is rewarding to trek around 3000 m, as the general weather pattern is clear enough to have outstanding views of snow capped mountains. From the last of February it is the time that rhododendron the national Nepali flower starts to bloom.

March – April - May

Trekking during this season is rewarding with good views of mountains, the blooming rhododendron throughout the forest is highlighted. Form this season the other wild flowers also starts to bloom and gives you pleasure on walking around them. It can get hotter from the beginning of May in the lower altitude; there is a high chance of rain. But trekking is fine.

June – July – august - September

This month’s are under the category of monsoon season, trekking is not popular due to frequent and heavy rain showers. The trail gets slippery with leeches around. However the forest turns to be green and lust with full of various wild flowers and many seasonal water falls from the mountains. Still few people trek to experience the beautiful scenery of forest and flowers. During this time trekking to the transhimalayan region of Nepal is famous, which includes trek to upper mustang, dolpa and humla. The monsoon doesn’t affect these places as they all lie on the rain shadow area. But getting there might be a challenge due to unpredictable weather in lower valleys for the flights.
